The TRU Wolfpack women’s soccer team had a weekend that will be remembered for a long time, even if the results were mixed. On Saturday they travelled to Thunderbird Stadium and held top ranked UBC to a 1-1 draw, snapping the Thunderbirds’ remarkable 44 game winning streak in the process.

Head coach Mark Pennington did not shy away from what the moment meant. “I think the biggest thing we take away from this game is some belief that we can compete with the top teams in the country.”

Sunday brought a different outcome. Facing Trinity Western in Langley, the Wolfpack fell 1-0 in a tight match to split the road weekend. Despite the loss the draw against UBC stands as one of the signature results in recent program history and gives the group real confidence heading into the final stretch.

The Wolfpack now return home to Hillside Stadium for their final two regular season matches, hosting UBC Okanagan on Friday before a rematch with Trinity Western on Saturday to close out the regular season. With a playoff spot already secured for just the third time in program history, the focus shifts to finishing strong and positioning themselves for a deep postseason run.
