Kamloops Own Mike Lowe is Turning Long Drives into Millions for Charity

Mike Lowe has been hitting golf balls his entire life, but over the last four years the Kamloops native has turned that talent into something far bigger than the sport itself. Through long drive exhibitions and trick shot performances at charity and celebrity golf events across North America, Lowe has helped raise over two million dollars for worthy causes while establishing himself as the number one golf fundraiser in Canada and a top five fundraiser in the United States.
Lowe’s journey into the charity golf world began with a legitimate long drive career. He has competed in World Long Drive competition with a personal best of 421 yards and a second place finish in Sacramento, California. That ability caught the attention of Charity Golf International, the worldwide leader in golf entertainment and fundraising, who brought Lowe into their network. He now travels across the continent performing at high profile events, combining his long drive power with an arsenal of trick shots that have made him one of the most sought after performers in the industry.
His connection to Kamloops remains at the heart of everything he does. Lowe has sponsored the SCT and I Royal Inland Hospital Foundation tournament four years running, providing nearly $25,000 in fundraising outcomes at this year’s event alone. He has also supported TRU Athletics, Developing World Connections, the Kamloops Cancer Supportive Care Society, the Chamber of Commerce and many more local organizations throughout his career.
The reach extends well beyond the Thompson-Okanagan. This past year Lowe attended events benefiting the Canucks for Kids Fund, Big Brothers, Ronald McDonald House and BC Children’s Hospital among hundreds of others. He also set a Canadian record at the Cougars Alumni tournament in Prince George, collecting $37,620 at his tee box alone with the funds going directly to support Northern Health. This year alone he is on track to raise a gross total of $750,000.
