The TRU WolfPack women’s basketball team heads into the new season with a youthful roster and a chance to continue building for the future. Associate Head Coach Joe Davis says the group’s makeup provides an important opportunity to grow together.
“It is a young group that will have opportunities to learn and be pushed together,” Davis said. “As a competitor I think that's the type of environment you want.”
TRU finished last season with one win but returns athletes who spent the summer working toward improvement. Davis points to gains in several areas that should help the team as they prepare for the upcoming year.
“Our returning athletes have done what we've asked over the course of the summer and seen improvements in fitness, strength, and skill level,” he said. “They should feel more prepared for this season.”
The WolfPack will get an early test at the Mount Royal tournament before opening their schedule on October 24. With experience gained and a roster eager to develop, the program is looking to move forward in the months ahead.
