Coming off a Canada West quarterfinal appearance, the TRU WolfPack women’s volleyball team turns its attention to the 2025–26 season with much of its roster still in place. Head Coach Chad Grimm says the group has the potential to remain competitive despite some veteran departures.

“This is a new group, and we did have some significant player turnover with some of our veteran players moving on,” Grimm said. “That being said, we only added two new players in college transfer Lauren Junck and high school addition Shyanne Jarrad so the core of our team is still intact. I would expect us to be a competitive team within the strong Canada West conference and hopefully we can surprise some of the powerhouse teams in our league.”

Leadership will be an important factor, and Grimm points to several players who have already taken on bigger roles.

“I think leadership comes in many forms and levels and the goal is to have each player feel they have a significant role on the team and can impact the direction of the group whether that be academically, on court performance, community leader or one of the many other roles within a team,” Grimm explained. “Some of our more senior players like Faith Christiansen have stepped up already in helping the department and greater community. Veteran setter Libby Meldrum shows the way with a calming presence and tireless work ethic while Rida brings her wealth of playing experience to the group and is able to stay calm under pressure. Caitlin Larrigan is an academic leader through PACE and Hail Ward has shown growth as an up-and-coming leader in our group as well.”

The WolfPack open their home schedule on October 31 against the University of Saskatchewan, a key date as they look to establish themselves once again in Canada West play.
