TRU WolfPack Women’s Soccer Season Preview: Continuing to improve

The TRU Wolfpack women's soccer team heads into their 2026 Canada West season with confidence after a strong preseason showing that saw them go 2-1-1 against quality opposition.

The Wolfpack opened with a dominant 7-0 victory over Langara before heading east to Ontario for three games in four days. They made an immediate statement with a 2-0 win over Queen's University in Kingston, then drew 1-1 with Nipissing before closing the trip with a 1-0 loss to Western. The Ontario swing gave the squad a genuine test against unfamiliar competition and they came away with plenty of positives heading into the regular season.

The challenge ahead is a steep one. TRU finished last season at 5-8-1 and will be looking to improve on that record in a competitive Canada West field. Their regular season opens Thursday, September 4 on the road at UNBC in Prince George.

The player everyone will be watching is Esi Lufo. In just her third season with the program last year, Lufo broke the all-time program records for both goals and points, earned a Gameday Kamloops Athlete of the Month selection, and was recognized nationally with a U Sports All-Canadian First Team nod as well as a Canada West First Team selection. She enters 2026 as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the country and will be in the conversation for the Canada West and U Sports scoring titles from the opening whistle.
