Kelly Olynyk is not done playing basketball. The South Kamloops Secondary product has signed with BC Roma in Italy's top domestic league, the Lega Basket Serie A, bringing the curtain down on a 13-year NBA career and opening a new chapter in Europe.

Olynyk was clear about how he feels about the move. "I am very happy about this opportunity and to become part of the BC Roma project. I can't wait to arrive in Rome, meet my new teammates and start working with the team. I am excited about this new experience."

The 35-year-old spent 13 seasons in the NBA with eight different franchises, most recently with the San Antonio Spurs during their run to the 2026 NBA Finals. He now takes that wealth of experience overseas, departing the league as one of the most recognizable Canadian players of his era. A career that began on the courts of South Kamloops Secondary School has taken him a long way from home, and now it takes him to Rome.
