Kamloops’ own Wyatt Brook is turning heads on the amateur golf scene after a clutch performance at the local qualifier for the U.S. Amateur Championship. Competing at the picturesque yet challenging Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell, Oregon, Brook finished T-1 to punch his ticket to try to qualify for the most prestigious tournament in amateur golf.

“Yeah, the putter was feeling really good yesterday (Wednesday). I had 27 putts overall I think, with quite a few being from distance. Excited to practice over the next few weeks before heading to Chambers Bay on the 30th”

The 26-year-old amateur golfer showcased poise on the course, navigating the narrow fairways and lightning-fast greens of Emerald Valley with precision. His steady play and sharp mental game earned him a spot in the upcoming sectional qualifier — a high-stakes test set for July 30th at the world-renowned Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington.

Now, with momentum on his side and a growing buzz behind him, Brook is one step away from the U.S. Amateur — and potentially much more. A victory in the sectional would secure him a place in the U.S. Amateur Championship, a tournament steeped in history. And for whoever wins it all? A coveted invitation to the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National awaits.

It’s a dream scenario for any young golfer — and one that’s very much alive for Kamloops’ rising star.

The road ahead won’t be easy, but Brook’s recent performance proves he’s more than ready to compete with the best. With his hometown cheering him on, he’ll head to Chambers Bay looking to take another giant step forward in his golfing journey.

Keep your eyes on the name — Wyatt Brook is making Kamloops proud.
