A former Kamloops Blazers forward has reached hockey’s biggest stage, as Matthew Seminoff made his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars on Sunday night.

Seminoff suited up for the Stars in a 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Oct. 25, marking a major milestone for the 22-year-old forward after several seasons working his way through the professional ranks.

The Coquitlam, B.C., product recorded two shots on goal and a hit in 8:53 of ice time. The opportunity came after a strong start to the season with the Texas Stars, Dallas’ American Hockey League affiliate, where he recorded seven points in seven games to earn his call-up.

Seminoff’s NHL debut marks another milestone in a journey that began in the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Blazers.
