Harrison Brunicke is set to rejoin the Kamloops Blazers after beginning the season in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The 18-year-old defenceman earned the opportunity to start the year in Pittsburgh, gaining valuable experience at NHL training camp and early season action around the Penguins’ organization. Brunicke made his NHL debut with the Penguins, playing 9 NHL games before playing another 5 pro games in the AHL. Along with his start in the pro’s, Brunicke also just represented Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship.
After being returned to junior, Brunicke will once again anchor the Blazers’ blue line, bringing back a higher level of pace, confidence, and professionalism gained from his time in the NHL environment. His return provides a major boost to a Kamloops lineup looking to build momentum as the season progresses.
Brunicke has been a cornerstone for the Blazers since the 2022–23 season, and his brief stint in Pittsburgh only adds to his leadership profile. With one of the organization’s top defencemen back in the fold, Kamloops is hopeful his presence will help set the standard as the team pushes forward.
