Venom Finding Their Stride as Road Trip to Kelowna Looms

After a slow start to the season the Kamloops Venom are heating up at the right time. The Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League's most decorated franchise, with eight league titles to their name, has climbed to third place in the standings after winning three of their last four games and now sit at 16 points on the season.

The only blemish in that recent stretch was a tight 10-9 loss to the league-leading North Okanagan Reapers, a result that showed the Venom can compete with the best in the league even in defeat. The bounce-back form since has been encouraging and the timing could not be better.

Leading the charge has been Gameday Kamloops Athlete of the Month for May, Seamus Bankier. The Venom forward sits atop the entire TOJLL in both points with 47 and goals with 30, numbers that put him in a class of his own through the first half of the season.

Saturday brings a significant test. Kamloops travels to take on the second-place Kelowna Kodiaks, the reigning league champions, in a matchup that could have real implications on the standings.
