One final regular season home weekend is set inside the Tournament Capital Centre as the TRU WolfPack volleyball programs prepare to host Alberta in a pair of pivotal Canada West matchups.
Friday and Saturday will mark the final opportunity for Kamloops fans to see both the women’s and men’s teams compete at home before the postseason, with national implications on the women’s side and playoff positioning at stake for the men.
The WolfPack women enter the weekend ranked fourth in the country with a 12-4 record, continuing one of the strongest seasons in program history. They will face the top ranked Alberta Pandas on Friday at 5:30 pm and Saturday at 3:00 pm, setting up a marquee matchup between two of the top teams in the nation.
TRU currently sits third in the Canada West standings and remains within reach of first place heading into the final weeks of the regular season. The WolfPack are coming off a split at home last weekend, responding with a strong performance on Saturday after a narrow loss the night before.
Friday’s match will also serve as a celebration of the program’s graduating student athletes. Faith Christensen, Caitlin Larrigan, Madison Maichin and Addison Witkowski will be honoured following the match after playing key roles in the WolfPack’s success throughout their careers.
On the men’s side, the WolfPack enter the weekend at 6-10 and in the playoff race with four regular season games remaining. TRU will take on the Alberta Golden Bears on Friday at 7:15 pm and Saturday at 4:45 pm as they look to strengthen their postseason position.
The men’s team is coming off a strong weekend sweep of UFV, earning back to back wins and building momentum at a critical point in the season. The results have kept TRU in the mix, with the top ten teams in the conference advancing to the playoffs.
Friday night will also feature a pre game ceremony honouring graduating student athletes Rylan Ibbetson, Tyson Koop, Mason Sodaro and Owen Waterhouse, marking their final regular season home appearance in WolfPack colours.
