The Kamloops Storm are moving on to the second round of the KIJHL playoffs after completing a first round sweep.
Kamloops wrapped up the series against the Chase Heat last night, finishing off a dominant four game stretch to eliminate their division rivals and advance in the postseason.
The Storm controlled much of the series from the opening puck drop, using a balanced offensive attack and steady play in their own zone to keep the Heat from gaining momentum. After winning the first two games on home ice at McArthur Island, Kamloops carried that confidence onto the road and closed out the series in Chase.
Throughout the matchup, the Storm showcased the depth that helped power them through the regular season. Timely scoring, disciplined defensive play, and reliable goaltending allowed Kamloops to dictate the pace and limit opportunities for the Heat.
With the sweep complete, the Storm now turn their attention to the second round, where they will face the winner of the series between the Quesnel River Rush and the Williams Lake Mustangs.
The second round will begin later this month.
