Logan Stankoven is officially locked in long term with the Carolina Hurricanes.

On July 1st, the Kamloops native signed a massive eight-year, $48 million contract extension with the Hurricanes, locking him in through the 2033–34 NHL season. The deal carries an average annual value of $6 million.

Stankoven, 22, was acquired by Carolina at the 2025 NHL trade deadline in a blockbuster deal with the Dallas Stars involving Mikko Rantanen. Since arriving in Raleigh, he’s made an immediate impact—registering nine points in 19 regular-season games and adding eight more in the playoffs, helping fuel a deep postseason run.

Pumped to be staying in Raleigh long term,” said Stankoven. “I loved the fit from the moment I got there and excited to be a part of the future.

It’s no surprise Carolina acted quickly to secure Stankoven. The former CHL Player of the Year has consistently impressed at every level, bringing speed, tenacity, and scoring instincts that fit perfectly within the Hurricanes’ high-tempo system.

“From the moment he arrived in Raleigh, it was clear Logan was a Hurricane,” said GM Eric Tulsky. “We’re thrilled he’s committed to being a big part of this organization long term.”

For Stankoven, the extension is the next step in a remarkable rise—from a star with the Kamloops Blazers to a core piece of one of the NHL’s top contenders.

Kamloops continues to watch with pride as one of its brightest hockey products makes his mark on the biggest stage—and now, stays there for the long haul.
