Wyatt Brook is back on a big stage south of the border.

The Kamloops product opened play Thursday at the 2026 Gasparilla Invitational in Tampa, grinding through a challenging first round to post a 7-over-par 77.

Competing against one of the strongest amateur fields in the United States, Brook battled tough conditions and a demanding layout throughout Day 1. While the scorecard wasn’t what he was hoping for, the round showed the resilience that has defined much of his recent rise in the amateur ranks.

The Gasparilla Invitational is widely regarded as one of the premier mid-am tournaments in the country, annually attracting elite amateur players and top international talent. Every shot is magnified, and momentum can swing quickly on a course that rewards precision and punishes small mistakes.

Brook showed flashes of hi

s trademark composure, settling in after a difficult stretch on the front nine and keeping himself within striking distance heading into the second round.

With one round still to play before the cut, Brook will have an opportunity to reset and attack the course with a fresh mindset. For a player who recently punched his ticket to the U.S. Amateur with a clutch qualifying performance, bouncing back is well within reach.

Day 2 presents a new opportunity and Brook will be looking to make the most of it. Brook will tee off at 8:00am EST on Friday for round 2.
