The season may have ended last weekend at the hands of the Calgary Dinos, but two members of the WolfPack men’s basketball team are closing it out with major recognition.
Rookie Forward Cason Scott has been named to the Canada West All Rookie Team following a strong first season in Kamloops. The Westsyde Secondary product finished third on the team in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game while quickly becoming a reliable offensive piece for the Pack. Scott came in as one of the most exciting local signings in recent years and delivered right away.
Third Year guard Jayden Stephens was also recognized, earning Canada West Second Team All Star honours. Stephens finished sixth in the conference in scoring this season, averaging 17.2 points per game against top level competition. Stephens was the offensive engine for TRU all season long. Night after night he carried the scoring load and gave the WolfPack a chance in tight games, helping the team put together one of its strongest campaigns to date.
While the playoff run came to an end in Calgary, this season marked clear progress for the program. With a solid core returning and young players like Scott continuing to develop, the outlook heading into next year remains strong.
