Former Blazer Fraser Minten Signs Seven-Year Extension With Boston Bruins
Another former Kamloops Blazer is cashing in at the NHL level.
The Boston Bruins announced Tuesday that they have signed former Blazers captain Fraser Minten to a seven-year contract extension worth $50.4 million. The deal carries an average annual value of $7.2 million and will keep Minten in Boston through the 2033-34 NHL season.
It marks another major milestone for the Vancouver product, who spent three seasons with the Kamloops Blazers before making the jump to professional hockey.
Minten was originally selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round, 38th overall, of the 2022 NHL Draft. He was dealt to Boston in March 2025 as part of the trade that sent defenceman Brandon Carlo to Toronto.
Since arriving in Boston, Minten has quickly established himself as an important piece of the Bruins' young core.
The 22-year-old took another major step forward during the 2025-26 season, appearing in all 82 games and setting career highs with 17 goals, 18 assists and 35 points. His 35 points were the most by a Bruins rookie since the 2017-18 season.
Minten also led all NHL rookies with a plus-21 rating, while finishing fifth among Boston skaters in hits with 142.
His strong season earned him NHL Rookie of the Month honours for January after he led all rookies with eight goals and tied for the league lead among first-year players with 14 points during the month.
For Minten, the new contract represents a significant vote of confidence from the Bruins organization.
From wearing the 'C' in Kamloops to becoming a full-time NHLer and now securing a seven-year commitment from one of hockey's most historic franchises, Minten continues to take another step in what is shaping up to be a promising NHL career.
