The Kamloops Blazers kicked off their 2025 WHL preseason on home ice last night, falling 3–1 to the Vancouver Giants at the Sandman Centre.

The game marked the first chance for Blazers fans to see a preview of the 2025/26 team.

Vancouver opened the scoring early in the first period, adding a pair of second period goals to stretch their lead.

The Blazers answered late in the third when Max Sullivan found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 3–1, but that was as close as Kamloops would get.

Despite the result, the game provided valuable minutes for a young Blazers roster looking to establish roles. Several rookies saw meaningful ice time against a Giants squad that pushed the pace throughout the night.

"It was great to get back out there with the guys and we were all excited to get back to gameplay." says veteran forward Andrew Thomson.

"I thought our young guys adjusted to the pace and physicality very well and a great start which is awesome to see. I thought our energy got consistently better throughout the game and although the result didn't go our way, I think it was a good first game that we can build on."

The Blazers continue their exhibition schedule this weekend with a road matchup before returning home on Saturday. With preseason action now underway, the countdown to opening night in the WHL is officially on.
