After opening the British Columbia Premier League season with a difficult run of results and a schedule packed with road games, the Kamloops United men’s side secured its first point of the campaign this weekend, battling Burnaby FC to a draw at McArthur Island.

The result marked an important step forward for a young squad that has continued to show resilience despite a challenging start to the year. With the club spending much of the opening portion of the season away from Kamloops, opportunities to settle into rhythm have been limited.

On Friday, however, the group delivered one of its most complete performances of the season.

Playing in front of local supporters during the 46th Annual Slurpee Cup festivities, Kamloops United matched Burnaby FC throughout the contest, earning a hard-fought result that carried added significance beyond the standings.

The point serves as a reward for a team that has remained committed through the early adversity of the BCPL schedule and provides a foundation to build from heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

With seven of their remaining nine matches set to be played in Kamloops, the club now enters the most home-heavy portion of its schedule carrying renewed confidence and momentum that could prove to be valuable for their upcoming games.
