Harrison Brunicke’s impressive year reached another milestone this week, as the Kamloops Blazer was named to Team Canada’s Training Camp roster for the 2026 World Junior Championship, a recognition that comes during his first season in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Brunicke made the jump to Pittsburgh this fall and quickly showed he could handle the pace and pressure of the pro game. With 9 NHL games now under his belt, this World Junior selection is another indication of how bright his future is.  His steady play, strong skating, and calm decision-making have stood out over the last few years, earning him trust in key situations on the ice.

For Brunicke, the selection is both an honour and a chance to represent his country on one of hockey’s biggest stages. And for Kamloops and Pittsburgh alike, it’s a proud moment seeing a young defenceman continue to rise quickly in his career.

Canada will look to claim Gold at the World Junior Championship starting on December 26, 2025.
